Recent Cocktail Fail #2

I have been wanting to come up with a great signature cocktail for Thanksgiving 2017, which is less than one week away.  I had the bright idea of mixing seasonal flavors of apples and honey.  I have a fondness for bourbon, and thought that these could all be incorporated into something delicious.

So I made a trip to my favorite liquor store to purchase some alcohol to play with.  I had purchased a bottle of Wild Turkey American Honey when I visited the Wild Turkey distillery two weeks ago.   I want to use this ingredient.  At the liquor store I saw some Laird's Applejack, and decided to buy it.  I have never purchased this before, but have seen it recipes and believe I'd had it in a cocktail or two in my life.  Two days prior, I had purchased 4 bottles of Martinelli Sparkling Apple-Pomegranate at Costco for a bargain price of $6.49.

I got home and got ready to craft the cocktail.  I started with 2 parts American Honey to 1 part Applejack.  Result:  not appealing.  I decided to add the sparkling cider, add ice, stir, and retry.  Result: pretty gross.  The sparkling cider hadn't been chilled prior to me adding it to the mixing glass.  I have purchased the straight Martinelli Apple Cider in the past, which is addictively delicious.  I had never tried the pomegranate flavor before.

I then tried different proportions for these ingredients, all of which had no pizzazz.

My plan?  Add a fresh juice ingredient as a base, and see what happens.  I'm planning on buying some fresh cider from a local farm.  Construction day will be tomorrow.  Also, I have since chilled the sparkling cider, and it tastes much better cold.  I'm still not sure if I'm a fan of the pomegranate, but I'm hopeful that the fresh juice will round everything out.
Get ready.  If this works, a recipe will be posted.  If not, a different creation will need to be made, STAT!
